DMK Associates to Design First Phase of Improvements for William R. Gaines Jr. Veterans Memorial Park
DMK Associates, Inc. has the fortunate opportunity to shape our community with projects that honor the deep commitment and willingness of the service for men and women of our Country, like Mr. William “Bill” R. Gaines Jr. and his fellow brothers in arms. We are honored to be selected by Charlotte County to design the first phase of improvements for the William R. Gaines Jr. Veterans Memorial Park.
As a local consultant for over 30 years, DMK employees have resided, worked and raised their families in Charlotte County. We strive to provide exceptional client service to Charlotte County and share one common goal: to make our clients successful.
At DMK, over 60% of our staff are military veterans or have direct family members who have served our Country. Due to our own personal background, we are intrinsically dedicated to honoring those that have served, and those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.
Our multidisciplinary design team will provide professional survey, data collection, site planning, architectural design, structural and electrical, landscape architecture, surface water management design, utility design, permitting, environmental services, bid phase and construction phase services.
Given the anticipated number of visitors to the park, Phase 1 will be designed with accessibility in mind. We will refine the County’s conceptual plan to insure accessibility through close coordination with the Charlotte County and project stakeholders. By obtaining stakeholder input early in the process we will transform concepts into designs, and designs into construction documents.
The major design elements of this project include:
1. Entrance drive at the Edgewater/Port Charlotte Blvd. roundabout.
2. Pedestrian trails with markers and signage.
3. A covered shade pavilion.
4. Playground and Parking.
Our intent for this project is to create a design that blends the proposed design elements within the existing natural park-like setting, assuring that this park remains a destination where multiple generations can enjoy the outdoors together along the beautiful shores of Charlotte Harbor.
After all, Mr. William R. Gaines Jr. believed in his mission. He believed in the principles of freedom and peace for the majority. He dedicated his life to achieve freedom throughout the world and paid the ultimate sacrifice. This park will show its visitors and the world that America is honorable and will fight for the freedom of others. At DMK, we feel that it is our duty to honor Bill’s sacrifice and mission, and to honor his love for God, country, family and community through our design and implementation of the Veteran’s Memorial Park project that bears his name.
